    MOUSE AND GAME PADs

A three button mouse is recommended.
Game Pads including Joystick and Sidewinder are used in some synths. (optional)

    MIDI

To use MIDI with TouchMixer and TouchDesigner, use a USB-MIDI adapter like the Edirol UM-1 or UM-1X. Alternatively, a sound card with a compatible MIDI port, or a dedicated MIDI hardware interface can also be used.

    VIDEO IN

FireWire camera or USB webcam for video input through DirectShow.

    JOYSTICKS / GAME PADS

Game Pads including Joystick and Sidewinder.

    MIDI CONTROLLERS

    Behringer
The BCF2000 is an inexpensive MIDI controller with 8 motorized faders, 8 endless rotary knobs, and 30 buttons. A fully programmable interface and simple connection through USB eliminates the need for a USB-toMIDI adaptor.

    CMlabs MotorMix
MotorMix with 8 motorized sliders, 40+ buttons. Touch drives the sliders when it starts a synth up, and keeps the on-screen sliders in-sync with the MotorMix sliders, making switching between synths eeasier.

    Oxygen 8
MIDI keyboard or similar musical keyboard inputs - more natural for triggering.

    Edirol Controller
    32 keys, 8 knobs, 8 sliders.

    Peavey 1600X
1600x MIDI controller - 16 sliders and 16 buttons - most current Touch demo files are designed around this device.

    Kenton Control Freak
Studio Editon - 16 sliders and 16 buttons - not tested by Derivative yet Any combination of MIDI devices with 16 sliders and 16 buttons will suffice and can be re-mapped to Touch controls.

    MIDI-to-USB interfaces
f or laptops - Logic, Roland, etc.

    I-CUBE
A wide range of sensor types converted to MIDI with I-CUBE from Infusion Systems.

    SCAN CONVERTERS

Scan Do Select from CSI - A great scan converter for under $1000. High-quality images, sub-window selection. composite or S-video, converts from 1280x1024 @ 60 Hz into a high-quality NTSC or PAL video signal.

Focus Enhancements - external scan converter TView Gold or the PCI card, TView Gold PCI. We haven't tested these products.

AVerMedia - scan converter up to 1600x1200 with zoom and output to S-video and composite. Low-quality - you get what you pay for.

Markertek - sells various scan converters and video processors.
    TABLETS

    Wacom
Tablet - better for gesturing into Touch than a mouse - a few synths use pen pressure.
